Morning, my friends! As for this weekend, it was a really busy one! As always, it was awesome! I seriously think this is one of the best workouts in DC so fun but legit, too. In the car ride home, Matt and I shared this Organic Fuel protein drink from Organic Valley as a reminder, they sent me some samples of it to try for a sponsored campaign. As for lunch once we got home, I whipped us up some tuna salad sandwiches. To make the tuna salad, I just mixed the tuna with avocado and dijon mustard! So good. Plus some veggie power. Zara is OBSESSED with tuna I always give her a little when I open a can, but apparently she was ready for more because when we were eating the sandwiches she was literally stalking us. How funny are these photos?! The rest of Saturday was spent car shopping! Exciting stuff! We ended up getting a Toyota Rav4 so nice to have a car with 4 wheel drive now, especially since DC is apparently always going to be super snowy in the winters! Great food and great mission, too! We rocked out 6 miles together on a super hilly route. Good times! Brooks asked their Run Happy blogger ambassadors to share their favorite post-run smoothie recipe, so I wanted to share mine as of late. Matt and I enjoyed it after the run yesterday! Sign up for my e-newsletter and Ill send you a meal plan packed with a weeks worth of healthy meals, snacks and a shopping list. Happy eating! Please notify me of replies to my comment by e-mail. As for Sunday morning, Matt joined me for a run! We had beautiful weather this weekend sunny and warmer, too. Smoothie ingredients makes 2 servings 1 small banana 1 cup frozen wild blueberries 2 tablespoons chia seeds 2 cups milk 2 cups fresh baby spinach, packed 1 cup ice Simply blend and enjoy! This smoothie makes a great post-run refuel not only because it rehydrates you, but also because it has protein from the milk , some great antioxidants and inflammation fighting nutrients from the wild blueberries , healthy omega 3 fat from the chia seeds , potassium from the banana , and iron from the spinach! Matt and I slaved away for the rest of the day yesterday working on our taxes blahhh and some other stuff around the house before having my parents over for dinner! We enjoyed a tart cherry, feta, and kale stuffed chicken but you have to wait until Thursday for the recipe. What does your favorite post-run smoothie include? That smoothie looks really tasty. My favorite go-to smoothie is a small container of greek yogurt either mango, strawberry or blueberry – whatever I have hanging around , some frozen berries, spinach and a little bit of almond milk to get things moving. If Im feeling fancy, Ill throw in some chia seeds as well! Congratulations on the new car! I have a Jetta that I got my senior year of college too that Im wondering how long it will last. I love it, but Im with you on the lack of 4WD. I know, I was so sad to say goodbye to my old Jetta! Omg Zara is too cute! Have an awesome time on your press trip! Oh goodness, I miss smoothies SO much! I havent had one since the summer when I lived at home – I dont have a blender in college, and the pre-made ones around campus are super sketchy. So darn delicious. I hope you have fun on your trip! Congrats on the new car!
